Walkman™ phone_sony_ericsson_zylo_spiroSony Ericsson (SE) announced the new Walkman ™ phone series, Sony Ericsson Zylo and Sony Ericsson Spiro in Indonesia. Both are the latest duo Walkman ™ phone portfolio in Communication Entertainment. Besides the new design with an arch shape of the human body (human curvature), both Zylo and Spiro also combines music and social networking features.

While surfing or using Twitter and Facebook, users can still enjoy the music. Another important feature is the TrackID, which allows consumers to know the title and artist of a song heard over the Internet.

In Sony Ericsson Zylo, users can play a song for the background while talking on the handset.In addition, the Sony Ericsson is also equipped with background sounds of the office, curb, or in restaurants. Zylo also has a FLAC High-Definition format, which claimed by Sony as the best format in the music industry.

While Sony Ericsson Spiro rely on TrackID feature and on easy access to social networking, like Facebook and Twitter. Not many special features, even for Internet access, the ability Sony Ericsson Spiro limited up to EDGE, compared to Sony Ericsson Zylo which already supports 3G UMTS.

Sony Ericsson Spiro available in Contrast Black, Sunset Pink, Spring Green, and Stealth Black color. While Sony Ericsson Zylo available in Jazz Black, Chacha Silver, and Swing Pink color.

Google has acquired Slide – a game development company

google_acquired_slideGoogle has acquired Slide – a game development company, widgets, and special applications for social networking.  As quoted from the site San Jose Mercury News, Google spent U.S. $ 228 million for this acquisition, which consists of U.S. $ 182 million for the acquisition of companies, and U.S. $ 46 million as for bonuses for Slide’s employees who will also into the Google team.

Founded in 2005, Slide has more than 27 million users online. This company offers various services ranging from photo sharing applications to games to social networking. For example SuperPoke and now has 1.1 million users. Not just simply write the text on the wall of Facebook friends, with this applications Facebook users can throw a ‘virtual sheep’ or send a ‘high fives’ to their friends on Facebook. In addition, Slide also makes a variety of games and other widgets for MySpace or Friendster.

BlackBerry 9800 – Torch : Hybrid BlackBerry

black_berry_hybrid_torchResearch In Motion (RIM) finally announced the official debut of its first hybrid BlackBerry, BlackBerry 9800 – Torch. Called hybrid because this smartphone provides navigation with touch screen and a QWERTY keyboard as well.

For other smartphone manufacturers, these products may have been usual. But, this is the first for BlackBerry. BlackBerry 9800 Torch may be the answer from RIM for consumers who still have not completely comfortable using the touch screen. So far BlackBerry products are popular because of its convenience is identical with the QWERTY keyboard.

Blackberry Torch is a very special product of our company,” said RIM Co-CEO Mike Lazaridis on Tuesday (08/03/2010).  Apart from being the first hybrid product, BlackBerry Torch is also one of the first smartphones that use operating system (OS) Blackberry 6.

Blackberry Torch has a 3.2-inch HVGA touch screen, using operating system Blackberry 6, has a GPS application, it supports HSDPA with download speeds up to 3.6 Mbps. In addition, it is equipped with 5 MP resolution camera with flash with face recognition capabilities. Camera can also be used for the video recorder with VGA resolution.

This device is using a 624 MHz processor and 512 MB of internal memory can be upgraded with up to 4 GB of flash storage. Other features is WiFi connectivity with the latest 802.11n standard.

BlackBerry 9800 – Torch will be available first in the U.S. starting on August 12, 2010 and  with prices starting from 200 U.S. dollars with a 2-year subscription contract.
